The number of finches you can keep depends on the space you have available. A single Canary will be happy in a cage of 40x20x20cm, and a pair of Zebra finches thrive in this confined space too, although you should provide as much space for them. Small is not best, it is merely adequate. In larger set ups you can keep more birds. The rule of thumb is to provide 90cm2 per each finch.
